Kate Davis is an acclaimed artist, director, designer, and dramaturg whose practice spans contemporary performance, design and visual arts.

She is Co-Artistic Director, alongside Emma Valente, of the influential experimental performance collective THE RABBLE. Since founding the company in 2006, the duo has created 17 critically celebrated works without ongoing funding, pioneering a distinctly feminist approach to devised performance that has redefined Australia’s theatre landscape.

Beyond THE RABBLE, Kate is a highly sought-after freelance artist whose
contributions have been recognised with numerous awards, including the 2022 Green Room Lifetime Technical Achievement Award for her groundbreaking design work.
She has cultivated collaborations with many of Australia’s most influential companies, including Malthouse Theatre, Lucy Guerin Inc, The Australian Ballet, Stephanie Lake Company, Melbourne Theatre Company, Fraught Outfit, Back to Back Theatre, Chunky Move, Carriageworks, Joel Bray Dance, Performance Space, Belvoir St and Sydney Theatre Company.

​A respected leader and mentor, Kate has built a formidable body of work united by a fearless pursuit of beauty, complexity, and transformation. She is also an accredited florist and death doula, reflecting her deep engagement with life’s cycles through art.
