BIO

Kate Davis is a multi-disciplinary artist working as a director, visual artist, dramaturg, and designer across set, costume, exhibition, and floral practices.

Her work spans contemporary performance, design and visual arts. 

 

She is the Co-Artistic Director of experimental performance company THE RABBLE, which she co-founded and has led for the past two decades.

​

Over the last twenty years, Kate has created 19 new works for THE RABBLE and collaborated on multiple projects with leading companies and artists across Australia, including Chunky Move, Melbourne Theatre Company, State Library of Victoria, Lucy Guerin Inc, Back to Back Theatre, The Australian Ballet, Fraught Outfit, Stephanie Lake, Melbourne Fringe Festival, Speak Percussion, Belvoir St Theatre, Carriageworks, Malthouse Theatre, Dancehouse, Joel Bray Dance, Griffin Theatre, Terrapin Puppet Theatre, Sydney Theatre Company, and many others.

Her practice defies categorisation, consistently expanding the possibilities of form, scale, and aesthetic. In 2022, she was recognised with the Green Room Lifetime Technical Achievement Award for her design work with THE RABBLE.

​

Alongside her artistic practice, Kate is a trained florist, Death Doula, and Death literacy advocate, extending her creative and community engagement into spaces of ritual and care.
